Norwegian Waffles

Servings: 8 waffles

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Sour Cream or Plain Yogurt
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp Cardamom
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 stick Butter (melted and cooled a bit)
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour

Equipment

  • Norwegian waffle iron A regular waffle iron can also be used

Method
 

  1. Add baking powder, baking soda, and cardamom to the yogurt or sour cream in a small bowl.
  2. Mix it together and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk eggs and sugar together.
  4. Add flour to the eggs and sugar, and mix together.
  5. Add a pinch of salt.
  6. Add melted butter, and mix together.
  7. Gently stir in your sour cream/yogurt into the large bowl.
  8. Heat up your waffle iron and grease it with butter.
  9. Add a ladle full of batter to the waffle iron, and cook until the waffle is golden brown. The waffle should be soft.
  10. Serve your waffles hot, room temperature, or cold. These are sweet on their own and can be eaten plain, but you may serve with maple syrup if desired.
